Why Mentors?

Mentors Make the Difference.

Mentor Michael and Client Richard photo

Mentors are skilled and caring members of the community who open their home and heart to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  They are everyday heroes who help the people they support achieve their individually chosen goals and live as independently as possible in the community.

Mentors represent a wide variety of racial and ethnic groups, skills, educational backgrounds, neighborhood settings and family arrangements.  Each Mentor is carefully screened and during the matching process California MENTOR closely considers the needs, skills, personalities and interests of Mentors and individuals receiving services to help us create as many family connections as possible.

The unique relationships, based on personal connection and mutual respect, that develop between Mentors and the individuals we serve is the foundation for the success of California MENTOR's FHA programs.

Are you or someone you know ready to make a difference in the life of an individual in your community?
